Stupid girl...crashed my Trek Madone!!!!!

First off, I have done about 6 races since last I blogged...what in the world was I thinking???? I cannot maintain one blog so why did I think I could maintain two??? I will try to recruit more girls...although they may not want to be stupidgirlsrunning...we will see.
Anyway...I did get lost at one of the above mentioned events...I ran out the wrong way from the transition area...not funny anymore...my husband asked...what the heck is wrong with you??? I don't know??? But I kicked his butt in the last tri we did so who cares!!!!!!!

I am going to do the Dual in the Desert on Jan 22nd...5K run, 20K bike, then another 5K run! It should be fun...and I just told a friend I would do Ragnar...Feb 25th....yikes! Hope I survive! I have to start hill training and two and three a days...
Lastly, and best of all...I got a new bike...it rocks!!! It is the BEST!!! I love it. I did crash it in it's first race. It was a 66 mile bike race...I crashed it around mile 31...took the skin off my elbow and thigh...bruised my hand and arm and shoulder...got blood all over my new, pretty, shiny bike! But I put the chain back on, twisted the brake back in place and got back on and finished the race...avg 17.6 mi an hour including crash time...not my best...not my worst...and I did it with very little drafting! I finally found someone to draft with when my crash happened...no one wanted to be near me after that!! Oh yea...the stupid part...this race was my first ride on my new bike and with these speed play peddles...yea...don't do a 66 mi bike race with new equipment that you have never used before...stupid!

Stupid girl not running a marathon

Back at the beginning of the summer a friend asked me to train with her for a marathon. Wow...OK. Taking the advice of a friend who had run a marathon before we both purchase the Non Runners Guide to Marathon training and read it and followed it's training plan...Well...she followed it...I modified it to fit in my other activities including biking and swimming...STUPID...not to cross train...but to cut out some runs and replace them with other things...for example...a sprint tri every Sat for 3 Sats in a row while still increasing my long runs in the very same weeks...Needless to say I hurt my hip, recovered w/physical therapy and RICE then turned around to do one more tri, a 5K and then jumped back into my run training at the same place I left off. Oh yea then increased my mileage to what my friend was doing so I could be caught up. STUPID. On my second 16 mi run I felt great except my knee was hurting a little bit toward the end. It stopped as soon as the run stopped. Two days later I do a 6 mi run...my knee hurt the last half...next day I do a 9 mi run...knee hurt at mile 6 and for the rest of the day...this keeps going till me...Stupid girl... is limping around...find out it's my IT band...my running partner is doing 18mi then 20 then the taper and now I can't even run 6 mi w/o extreme pain for the run and next 24 hours....Yep...Stupid. We went to Logan Utah for the Top of Utah Marathon where she finished the Marathon with ease and I ran the 5K. The good news...I won 1st place in my age group...bad news? Only won because the fast well trained runners did the marathon!!! Well I cried while waiting at the finish line to see my friend cross...she cried too...for a totally different reason than me...but then again...I am the Stupid one...Pics to come soon! It's a great race...hope to do it next year For Real!

YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY...STUPID!

Well here goes for my first post...an example of what not to do! It's my 4th sprint triathlon ever so I think I am quite experienced. I'm wearing a tri suit for the first time (but that's another story) and feeling good even though I've just done my slowest swim ever! I'm on my bike...a fairly hilly course and just 2mi into it when I crest this tall, kick your butt hill. I begin my descent peddling hard I'm watching my odometer: 23, 26, whoo hoo!!!!! 31 mi per and hour. I hear honking and so look toward the sound at the crowds of people and cars to my right and smile. What great community support I think! I sure am going fast...more, even louder honking, so I wave and smile never dipping below 30! I push hard going down because I will have to go up again soon. About .3 miles down to the bottom of this STEEP hill when a guy, in a truck next to me rolls down his window and yells "YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!"

Yep...I should have turned right at the crest of the hill, not speed down the other side! So I have to turn around and get up out of the saddle to slowly make my way up a hill I should have never traversed in the first place. I set a PR on my bike as far as my mi/hr but you can't tell in my time because .6 miles were not even part of the course! Yep...stupid.
